Gilbane worked closely with the Baltimore County Planning Department to develop Altus, an upscale, purpose-built student housing community on a 2-acre site just 1,000 feet from Towson University campus in Towson, MD. Altus is situated within Towson Row, a 1.2 million-SF mixed-use development that offers a cosmopolitan restaurant and retail space, an office tower, luxury high-rise apartments, and a hotel.

  • Unit mix includes studios, 1-bedrooms, 2-bedrooms, 3-bedrooms and 4-bedrooms with an average square footage of 1,150-SF
  • Robust amenities package with a clubroom, fitness center, computer lounge, study rooms, game room, and two elevated courtyards (which collectively includes a swimming pool, grilling area and other outdoor amenities such as fire pits)
  • Features an eye-catching mural hand-painted by a local artist who Gilbane commissioned to create a welcoming and visually appealing feature to connect the building with the neighborhood
  • NGBS Green Multifamily & Mixed-Use Building Certification (Silver Certification)
    • Achieved high marks in the Lot Design, Preparation, and Development category due to its proximity to a Mass Transit System, by utilizing an infill lot, and through native vegetation
    • Earned high marks in the Resource Efficiency category, for using pre-finished materials, by recycling construction materials, implementing a Construction Waste Management Plan, and more sustainability factors
