Construction To Begin At “The Riverfront At West Hyattsville Metro,” A Mixed-Use Townhouse, Apartment Development At West Hyattsville Metro
Hyattsville, MD – February 6, 2017 – The Riverfront at West Hyattsville Metro – A new mixed-use townhouse and apartment development located at 5620 Ager Road is expected to start construction in spring of 2017.
The new community is expected to feature 183 townhomes and 300 apartment homes. The project is also expected to include 9,000 square feet of ground floor retail and the creation of a 4.5 acre community park recreation area. The 18.5 acre site is located adjacent to the WMATA West Hyattsville Metro Station and Anacostia River NW Branch Trail. West Hyattsville Property Company, LLC will develop the site in two phases, starting this spring. Gilbane Development Company is managing entitlements for the project.
The Riverfront at West Hyattsville Metro location provides immediate access to two major employment areas, downtown D.C. and College Park, MD via the WMATA Green Line, with average trip times of under 15 minutes.
The project will also create 4.5 acres of public parkland, including an amphitheater and bike/pedestrian loop connecting to the NW Branch Trail system and adjacent public recreation facilities. The community is replacing an existing vacant, blighted 250,000 square foot warehouse.
The Riverfront at West Hyattsville Metro will contribute to the area’s economic development efforts by providing much-needed tax revenue and additional housing in a true transit oriented development. Additional area revitalization is planned for the nearby Queen Chapel Town Center at the end of the year.
Townhouse sales are anticipated to begin by year end 2017.
