Gilbane is deeply committed to fostering an inclusive environment that empowers all individuals to thrive. Our strategy begins with investing in our people, focusing on growth, empowerment, and inclusivity to create high-performing teams that deliver exceptional experiences for our people, partners, and clients.

Our inclusion efforts are multifaceted, emphasizing leadership commitment and accountability, workforce diversity, inclusive work environments, and our economic inclusion programs. Leaders at Gilbane set the tone for inclusion, ensuring that policies and programs reflect our values. A diverse workforce brings a variety of perspectives, leading to innovative solutions and better decision-making. Inclusive environments ensure every team member feels valued and respected, fostering a sense of belonging. Our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are crucial in these efforts. They provide a platform for employees to connect, share experiences, and support one another, driving our mission to build inclusive work environments. These groups have influenced company policies and initiatives, ensuring that diverse perspectives are always considered.

"A positive workplace culture is supportive and collaborative. It's a safe environment where you can ask questions, learn, and grow from mistakes. Personally, it's important to feel like I'm constantly growing and improving, which is what a good workplace culture fosters." Karina Guo, Gilbane Building Company VDC Engineer

A key component of our strategy is our Economic Inclusion Program. Gilbane’s Economic Inclusion Program is fundamental to our mission to foster a diverse and inclusive construction industry. By investing in the growth and success of diverse-owned and small businesses, we are building a stronger, more resilient industry that benefits everyone. Through mentorship, resource provision, and strategic partnerships, we are paving the way for a more inclusive future in construction.

Construction Inclusion Week 2024

Construction Inclusion Week at Gilbane is a pivotal event that underscores our dedication to fostering an inclusive environment within the construction industry. This week-long event engages employees at all levels and promotes awareness and understanding of the importance of inclusion and belonging in our work.

Highlights include:
  • Thoughtful and Informative Content: A week of activities, information sharing, and dialogue to advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging within the construction industry.
  • Curated Toolbox and Table Talks: Toolbox and table talks designed to foster empathy, connection, and reflection among our people.
  • Panel Discussions: Panel discussions that provide insights from leadership, highlight the importance of a positive workplace culture and model respectful behavior in navigating challenging conversations.
  • Live Virtual Enterprise-Wide Session: A dynamic session where we dive into strategies for fostering an inclusive workplace, share best practices, and hear from peers about promoting inclusion in our industry.
A positive work culture is one where people go the extra mile to care for each other, listen, and show kindness and generosity. It's a place where I can feel that I truly belong." Kanika Tripathi, Gilbane Building Company project engineer
