Leading with Integrity – Ethics Week 2022

September 8, 2022
Brad Gordon
At Gilbane, our core values are the foundation of how we conduct ourselves as an enterprise, and how we treat each other, our clients, and our partners.  We are committed to the highest ethical and professional standards of conduct, and to upholding those standards as we pursue our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) vision: to create a better future for our entire Gilbane family of employees, for the communities in which we live and build buildings, and for the generations to come.

Ethics Week: What’s it all about?

Our inaugural Ethics Week is scheduled for September 26-30, 2022. Our primary goal in launching Ethics Week is to shine a spotlight on the importance of ethics and compliance at Gilbane and how we lead with integrity in our communities and our industry. Throughout the week, some of Gilbane’s senior leaders will share their stories about seeing our core values in action at Gilbane and the meaning of ethics to them.  These and other communications are intended to further our ethical culture and to provide a safe environment for our employees to learn about the significant impact ethics has on everything we do. Ethics Week is a new strategy within our ESG program and is part of a comprehensive ethics and compliance program at Gilbane that includes onboarding trainings, periodic ethics refresher trainings, a Code of Ethics, and an ethics reporting hotline.

In anticipation of Ethics Week, we have published a newly-revamped Code of Ethics for our employees. While the content remains the same, the new document better reflects the mutual commitments to ethical behavior between Gilbane the employer and its employees.  The Code of Ethics is a roadmap to help our people identify potential ethical violations and to guide them on how to respond properly.  During Ethics Week, in the Code of Ethics, and on posters displayed on Gilbane jobsites and in our offices worldwide, we also emphasize the numerous internal and external resources that are available to assist employees with questions on ethics issues.  As in past years, employees will be asked to review the policy and to acknowledge their personal obligations for compliance with it.
