From October 13–17, 2025, the construction industry will come together for the fifth annual Construction Inclusion Week (CIW), a powerful opportunity to shape the future of our workforce. As demand for skilled talent in the construction industry continues to rise, CIW offers a proactive path forward: building workplaces where people feel respected, supported, and empowered to thrive. It’s a timely and inspiring response to one of our greatest opportunities, welcoming the next generation of builders into an industry poised for growth. This year’s theme, “Opening Doors: Building a Workplace for Everyone,” reflects a pivotal shift in how we approach workforce development and workplace culture.

The Five Guiding Pillars of CIW 2025

CIW 2025 is built around five guiding pillars that provide a roadmap for action:

  • Commitment & Accountability: Encouraging organizations to set measurable goals, allocate resources, and track progress toward building inclusive and respectful workplaces.
  • Attract & Retain: Addressing labor shortages by making construction careers more visible, accessible, and appealing to a broader range of individuals—including students, veterans, and career changers.
  • Economic Opportunity: Promoting pathways for advancement and financial stability through training, mentorship, and leadership development.
  • Belonging & Workplace Culture: Fostering environments where every team member feels respected, valued, and empowered to succeed.
  • Community Engagement: Strengthening ties between construction firms and the communities they serve through service, education, and collaboration.

These pillars are designed to be actionable. The CIW 2025 Planning Guide offers practical tools such as Toolbox Talks and best-practice catalogs to help companies of all sizes participate meaningfully. Whether it’s hosting jobsite tours, partnering with local schools, or facilitating team huddles, the resources are tailored to meet teams where they are and help them progress.

How Gilbane Is Participating

At Gilbane, we’re proud to support CIW 2025 through a series of internal activations that reflect the week’s themes. Across our offices and job sites, teams are engaging in:

  • Leadership-led discussions focused on workplace culture and career development.
  • Site-based activities such as small group talks and educational sessions tailored to local needs.
  • Resource sharing that includes CIW Tool/Table talks.
  • Community service efforts that connect teams with local organizations through volunteering, outreach, and educational engagement.

This year, we’ve aligned our Community Impact Challenge with CIW to create a unified experience. By integrating these efforts, our teams can plan activities that are both locally relevant and aligned with CIW’s national pillars. From mentorship panels and volunteer efforts to educational outreach and jobsite tours, our actions are designed to foster connection, expand opportunities, and strengthen the communities where we live and work.

A Call to Action

As CIW 2025 unfolds, we invite everyone, whether you’re in the field, in the office, or somewhere in between, to reflect on what it means to “open doors.” Ask yourself: How can I help someone see a future in this industry? How can I make my team feel more connected?

Together, we can build a workplace that welcomes talent, nurtures growth, and drives the construction industry forward.
