When you think about having a great company culture, you think about the people. At Gilbane, our formula for success begins with our employees. Grounded in core values like caring and teamwork, nothing is more important to us than cultivating an environment in which our people feel valued and appreciated. This type of culture calls for a week dedicated to recognition and gratitude for our employees. This year, we are celebrating Employee Appreciation Week at Gilbane from November 16-20.

When it comes to an individual’s personal or professional happiness, there’s a simple element that holds true, and that’s the fundamental need to feel valued and appreciated. Employee recognition matters. A simple gesture such as “thank you” or a “great job” goes a long way. Recognition helps employees see that they are valued and that they contribute to the overall success of the company. Additionally, employee recognition encourages high performance and increases employee engagement. The year 2020 has been full of unprecedented events and challenges. It is important now more than ever that we pause and recognize our people for their dedication to the company and to each other.

During this Employee Appreciation Week, we are encouraging employees in our 45+ office locations around the world to participate in week-long virtual activities such as trivia, wellness challenges, a virtual yoga class, stretch and flex led by our executive management team, and more! This week is particularly special this year as we kick off Gilbane’s 150-year anniversary celebration. During this milestone anniversary year, we will celebrate our employees, clients and partners from around the globe.

We encourage you to commit to recognition all year-round. To help you celebrate your employees, here are some ideas you can implement virtually:

  • Handwritten notes – it’s the thought that counts
  • Develop a personalized appreciation video – get creative to show gratitude
  • Virtual happy hour – cheers to a fantastic team
  • Encourage peer-to-peer recognition – improve employee relationships

Let us know in comments how you recognize and build a stronger relationship with your employees and let them know you care.
