Gilbane Celebrates Ribbon Cutting of Ferrero Nutella Peanut Manufacturing Facility in Illinois

Gilbane completes 84,000-square-foot renovation enabling U.S. production of Nutella Peanut, Ferrero’s first Nutella product variant in more than 60 years 

Franklin Park, IL – April 24, 2026 – Gilbane, a leading global builder in advanced manufacturing, joined Ferrero, local officials, and community partners to celebrate the opening of Ferrero’s new Nutella Peanut manufacturing facility in Franklin Park, Illinois.  

The 84,000‑square‑foot renovation of Ferrero’s existing food production facility supports production of Nutella Peanut, the first variant of Nutella in more than 60 years and the first Nutella product manufactured in the United States.  

Gilbane delivered the complex renovation while maintaining ongoing manufacturing operations. The scope of work included demolition of underutilized production areas, a structural building addition, installation of new mechanical and electrical systems, updated interior layouts and finishes, and exterior improvements. 

“Through detailed planning and coordination, the Gilbane team delivered a highly technical project within an active manufacturing facility with minimal disruption,” said David Lumley, project executive, Gilbane Building. “Completed on schedule, the project enabled Ferrero to move forward with the planned rollout of a new product and reinforced a strong, collaborative partnership.”
