Gilbane Celebrates Groundbreaking for Glenbard North High School Addition and Renovation in Illinois
Construction Begins on Glenbard North High School Facility Improvements for District 87
Carol Stream, Illinois — April 20, 2026 — Gilbane, a leading global builder, joined Glenbard Township High School 87, Wold Architects and Engineers, and community members to celebrate the groundbreaking of a major high school addition and renovation project at Glenbard North High School. The milestone marks the start of construction on improvements designed to support modern, student-centered learning environments.
The project is part of Glenbard Township High School District 87’s ongoing effort to update its facilities to meet the evolving needs of students and educators. At Glenbard North, the work will enhance both academic and extracurricular spaces while improving functionality across the campus.
The project includes construction of a new music building addition, featuring a band room, orchestra room, practice spaces, and administrative suites. Site improvements include upgraded utilities, expansion of an existing parking lot, and new landscaping. Construction of the new addition is anticipated to begin late April 2026, with substantial completion anticipated in May 2027.
Renovation work planned for Summer 2026 will modernize several interior spaces throughout the school, including three science laboratories and the conversion of three classrooms into new art rooms. Additional upgrades include new windows in six classrooms and gymnasium improvements featuring new bleachers and refinished flooring. These renovations are expected to be completed by August 2026.
Students, faculty, and staff attended the groundbreaking ceremony to mark this milestone in the District’s continued investment in its schools.
