Gilbane Building Recognized as One of the 50 Most Community-minded Employers in Philadelphia Region
Gilbane Building, one of the largest, privately-owned construction firms in the industry, announced today it has been named a 2025 honoree of The Civic 50 Greater Philadelphia by The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia in partnership with recognized nonprofit Points of Light, the Philadelphia Foundation, and other local partners.
Modeled after Points of Light’s national program, the Civic 50 Greater Philadelphia measures and recognizes civic-minded companies using their time, talent, and resources to drive social impact within their organizations and communities – setting the standard for civic engagement in the region.

The Civic 50 Greater Philadelphia is comprised of leading private and public companies, as well as other major employers across the region, with more than 10 employees operating in the 11-county Greater Philadelphia region. Organizations are recognized for excellence across four key dimensions of their community engagement programs:
- Investment of resources
- Integration across business functions
- Institutionalization through policies and systems
- Impact measurement
Since 2011, the national Civic 50 has provided a standard for superior corporate citizenship and has showcased how companies drive social impact in their business and within the community.

Gilbane’s community engagement includes robust investments in workforce development, introducing students and career seekers to opportunities in the construction industry and offering hands-on training through programs like its Rising Contractor Program, a 10-week course designed to strengthen certified trade partners and help them grow sustainable businesses. Through this and other initiatives, Gilbane supports the development of the next generation of builders while cultivating a more equitable and inclusive industry.
Additionally, Gilbane seeks to maximize participation by small, diverse-owned businesses, including minority-, women-, LGBTQIA+-, and veteran-owned, and to have a diverse, local workforce on our construction projects. Each project includes a tailored community impact plan that outlines procurement strategies, local hiring goals, and inclusive engagement events.
Gilbane team members regularly volunteer and collaborate with organizations including the ACE Mentor Program, United Way, Rebuilding Together, and Habitat for Humanity, reinforcing a strong culture of service.
