Gilbane Building Company Celebrates Topping Out of Pawtucket School
Designed by the SLAM Collaborative as a state-of-the-art STEAM educational facility, the new school will feature three levels and accommodate 643 students in grades pre-K through fifth.
During ceremonial remarks, attendees thanked local officials and the Pawtucket community for their continued support of educational initiatives within the City and their unwavering commitment to the students. Given the success of the Henry Winters School construction program, as well as other schools in the district, Pawtucket has emerged as a leader within the state for managing the resources of the statewide construction plan and putting funds into action.
“In delivering this project, we’ve not only focused on client satisfaction, sustainability, safety, and innovation, but also diversity and community engagement,” said Steve Duvel, senior vice president and New England division leader for Gilbane. “As we celebrate this milestone and look toward the future of the project, we further our commitment to Pawtucket, the state of Rhode Island, and the generations of students who will call this building home.”
The new elementary school will be a welcomed addition to the neighborhood and play a large role in Pawtucket’s ongoing revitalization. Considerations for a student drop-off area with optimal traffic flow, increased security measures, as well as energy efficient HVAC systems have all been incorporated into the building’s design and will provide students and staff with an enriching facility in which to learn.
