Gilbane’s experience and solid safety record building within occupied school settings will be critical to transforming Mill Hill School.

width=Fairfield, CT Gilbane Building Company, a leading builder of K-12 education facilities in Connecticut, has begun construction phase activities for the 61,000-square-foot renovation and expansion of Mill Hill Elementary School in Fairfield, Connecticut.

Last updated in 1991, the existing 43,000-square-foot Mill Hill Elementary School will undergo a complete renovation that includes system upgrades and site improvements.  In addition, the project consists of an expansion of the facility encompassing five new additions that will include kindergarten classrooms, music and band space, administrative offices, and a new

stage area. Once complete, the new facility will have the capacity to accommodate 441 elementary school students.

“We’re thrilled to be part of this incredible team and look forward to delivering this renovated and expanded  school to the Town of Fairfield,” said John Hawley, vice president and business unit leader for Gilbane in Connecticut.  “Our team brings vast experience in building state-of-the-art school facilities in Connecticut and we’re very pleased to be partnering with the Fairfield community again on this project.”

Gilbane has been providing preconstruction services for the Mill Hill School project since 2019, as well as serving as construction manager for the Holland Hill School, also in Fairfield.  Increased safety measures are of utmost importance, as this school is scheduled to be occupied throughout construction. In addition to our already strict safety protocols in place for working on an occupied school campus, the Gilbane team will also be utilizing an enhanced safety plan to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

Designed by Silver, Petrucelli & Associates, Inc., the Mill Hill Elementary School project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2021.
