Orange, VA – July 23, 2026 – Gilbane Building and Orange County Public Schools celebrated the groundbreaking of a new Career and Technical Education (CTE) Center that will expand workforce training opportunities for students and strengthen career pathways across Orange County, Virginia.

Located on the Orange County High School campus, the approximately $22 million design-build project will create a modern learning environment dedicated to hands-on technical education. The facility will bring together career and technical education programs including nursing, agriculture, robotics and technology education, culinary arts, cybersecurity, automotive technology, HVAC, carpentry and masonry.

The new CTE Center is designed to serve 200 students per block, and 400-600 students each day while replacing aging instructional spaces with a centralized, purpose-built facility that supports future academic growth.

“Today’s groundbreaking represents far more than the start of construction,” said Maggie Reed, vice president and Virginia business leader, Gilbane Building. “This Career and Technical Education Center will prepare students for rewarding careers while helping Orange County build the skilled workforce needed for the future.”

Gilbane Building is delivering the project through a collaborative design-build partnership with RRMM Architects and Timmons Group. Construction will be carefully coordinated on the active school campus to maintain safety, security, and uninterrupted school operations throughout the project.

When complete, the Career and Technical Education Center will prepare students for careers in healthcare, skilled trades, and advanced manufacturing and technology while supporting long-term workforce development throughout the region.
