The Pawtucket Red Sox and the John H. The Award Committee is led by local business leaders including Aram Garabedian of Bliss Properties/Warwick Mall; Ray Fogarty of the John H. Chafee Center at Bryant University; and Mike Tamburro of the Pawtucket Red Sox.
“Our Committee wants to remind Rhode Islanders why there are so many wonderful reasons to live here, work here and do business here. We aim to accentuate the positive and publicly recognize those organizations that contribute to making Rhode Island great. A successful Providence-based company, Gilbane is an inspirational and exceptional example of why we should be proud of the many companies with roots in this state,” noted Ray Fogarty, Director, John H. Chafee Center for International Business at Bryant University. “Don’t believe the naysayers – there’s a whole lot that’s right with Rhode Island.”
“Standing out there on the field with my granddaughters, nieces, nephews and Gilbane employees’ children and feeling the excitement of our employees who were there, it was clear to me that this was the perfect representation of Gilbane – we are a family company,” noted Bill Gilbane, Jr., Vice Chairman of Gilbane Building Company. “My family founded Gilbane in Rhode Island in 1873 and I am proud of our heritage in the state that I call home. As a result of our Rhode Island roots and relationships, we have grown and prospered. We now have 50 offices worldwide and more than 2,500 employees.”
