Savannah’s unique character of traditional coastal living thrives on its history of innovation and prosperity.
With the fastest growing port in the nation and a diverse economy of manufacturing, healthcare, and government/military, the area is rapidly growing. With that growth come new demands for infrastructure and construction. Gilbane’s team of professionals are proud to call Savannah home and offer integrated construction management services from our local office. As the No. 1 K-12 builder in the U.S., we have been successfully delivering education project for schools across the country. In fact we delivered the first ESPLOST project for Savannah-Chatham County on time and within budget with the Godley Station School K-8 project, the Beach High School project, and are currently constructing the Port Wentworth K-8 School. Other markets we serve include higher education: Georgia Tech, Emory University, municipal work, and healthcare: Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Houston Healthcare, sports facilities and military projects such as the Renovation of Building 21718, Fort Gordon, Georgia.
Our team members live in the area, work here and raise their families here in Savannah. So community matters. Whether it’s donating to local charities or volunteering their time, our employees actively participate in building their communities. Each year we host the Annual Career Fair at Beach High School with our mentor Protégé firm JL Wallace Inc. to encourage and create awareness of careers in construction.
We are actively involved in the following efforts:
- Savannah Chamber of Commerce Member
- ACE Mentor Participation
- Title Sponsor – Annual Gilbane Kids Classic Golf Tournament
- ‘Gilbane Scholarship Fund’ for Savannah Chatham County Public School System
Maximizing Local Workforce Participation
At Gilbane, we make every effort to be inclusive in our outreach activities. We recognize that by integrating historically underutilized businesses, we create another level of qualified workforce applicants. We remain focused on the longstanding relationships and deep networks we have built with our MWBE/WBE efforts in the local subcontractor market. Our numbers speak for themselves. We average 31 percent utilization and 70 percent project local participation on our current projects.
