The opportunity

Killingly High School faced overcrowding and out-dated educational facilities that could not meet the needs of today’s students. Gilbane provided construction management agency services overseeing the construction of a new, state of the art 245,000-square-foot high school and vocational agricultural center to provide students with dramatically improved learning conditions.

The solution

The new school will accommodate approximately 1,100 students and house classrooms, laboratories, full kitchen and cafeteria, administration offices, media center, auditorium with stage, band, choral, and 2 gymnasiums (main and auxiliary). The Vocational Agricultural Center includes laboratories for agriculture, carpentry, aquaculture, food and plant science, separate barn for animal science, and greenhouses, as well as associated classrooms.
