PRIME OR SUB – WRITING THE RULES TO BE THE BEST TEAMING PARTNER EVER!
Post-great recession, teaming is the name of the game. When it works, you stick with that teaming partner through thick and thin. Clients see the magic on proposals and projects alike come together in a winning combination. But too often, there is a disconnect between prime and sub that results in a rocky relationship. It starts with communication in the positioning phase (do we really know them? do they really bring value?), gets bumpy in the proposal phase (really? You sent me unformatted resumes after I sent a template?), is visible in the interview (clients see everything), and project delivery is a catastrophe.
Working from primary research conducted by the independent marketing consulting team at Clever, an online survey will poll professional marketers about what works and what doesn’t work in teaming situations. Selected survey participants will be interviewed for additional details and background stories. A compilation of the survey with draft “rules” for teaming will be distributed to audience participants.
This survey serves as a basis of conversation for a panel of traditional prime consultant marketers and traditional subconsultant marketers. Facilitated by Frank Lippert, the panel will review and discuss survey-determined rules with audience participation. The survey handout will include ample note space to expand on the results with implementable ideas and real-life stories supporting the findings.
Together, we’ll work to write a real, best practices, “rules” document for teaming we can all start using on Thursday morning. Collectively, we will make teaming – the best ever.
