Gilbane Names Sue Klawans Director of Operational Excellence and Planning

 Providence, RI – May 24, 2012 – Sue Klawans has been named Director of Operational Excellence and Planning for Gilbane Building Company. A vice president with the Company and long-time leader of client satisfaction initiatives, Klawans will assume a wide range of responsibilities with a direct focus on improving value to clients through a Lean approach including collaboration, efficiency and continuous improvement.
 

“One of Sue’s new focus areas will be Gilbane’s exclusive iBuild platform, an innovative construction management tool that streamlines project management and drives collaboration on all of our projects. Sue will serve as the bridge between our cutting edge technology and the people and teams that are using it, bringing the most value to our clients,” said Bill Gilbane, president and COO. “Employing a Lean business approach and integrating BIM from a time and cost savings standpoint on all of our projects, Sue will ensure that Gilbane continues to be the market leader in quality, efficiency and innovation with a One Company mindset.”  
 

In her new role, Klawans will serve as a champion for business process and technical training efforts, help ensure a ‘one-company’ execution of planning efforts and other initiatives, oversee and support client satisfaction efforts, direct the customer service team for Gilbane’s online and mobile project management applications, and work closely with the Company’s internal peer groups to advance Lean operations.
 

Klawans has had a long and successful career with Gilbane, starting as a management trainee and rising through the operations ranks to become a project executive and later the Director of Client Satisfaction. Prior to being named Director of Operational Excellence and Planning, Klawans led the reengineering and integration of Gilbane’s business processes and systems.
 

A graduate of Brown University, Klawans is a member of several organizations including the Lean Construction Institute, the Boston Society of Architects, and buildingSMART Alliance; and serves on the Board of Directors for the National Institute of Building Sciences. She lives in Woburn, Massachusetts.
