Chairman and CEO
Our company recently presented our national awards in safety, excellence, innovation and for our project team of the year. This event is one of my favorites all year. It’s our opportunity within the company to come together and shine a light on some of the truly spectacular people who make our company great.
The winners’ of this year’s Iver Johnson Builders of the year competition was the team at Elmhurst memorial Healthcare in Illinois. This team built a stunning 296 room replacement hospital that has to be seen to be believed. This facility has 15 operating rooms, four labs and the kind of state-of-the-art imaging and other technology that is the hallmark of modern hospitals. This team built this massive campus with only one lost-time accident. Perhaps best of all, this team formed a true partnership with the hospital staff and together they helped this facility reach its highest potential. The Elmhurst Hospital team will be providing outstanding care for Chicago area residents years to come and we take great pride in helping them do that.
Our other winners are also equally deserving of recognition. The Maricopa County Court Tower team in Phoenix worked more than 2 million hours without an accident, Colin Thrift in our consulting services group developed a schedule risk analysis tool that is helping several of our clients and Eric J. Mullins in Connecticut is an example to all of us of how to perform at our very best. Recognizing people on the Gilbane team is always a treat. But the truth is all our people live our core values and are special. Winning awards just comes along with all their hard work and dedication to excellence.
